Aim:
- The programme will help practising doctors and nurses in their day-to-day professional life. Certificates awarded to doctors enable them to apply for a licence to stock and dispense oral morphine under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Eligibility:
- Doctors (MBBS, BDS)
- Nurses (BSc Nursing, GNM)
Course Design:
- The course will be delivered in two parts: A mandatory theory ‘Part A’ component and a practical hands-on ‘Part B’ component (recommended but optional)v
- Successful completion of ‘Part A’ will make one equipped to understand basic concepts of palliative care and to teach and train others on how to manage difficult symptoms including intractable pain. It will also increase their confidence to handle difficult questions or situations encountered in everyday practice.
- Successful completion of ‘Part B’ at the Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre will provide candidates with an opportunity to have a hands-on understanding of the concept of pain and symptom management, enabling them to effectively manage a patient who is on opioids as the emphasis will be given on teaching opioid titration. It will also make doctors eligible for obtaining an RMI certificate for your organisation.

IAPC Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care for Pharmacists
The IAPC’s ‘Certificate Course in Palliative Care Pharmacy’ (CCPCP) was launched on 29th December 2021.
This is a basic course which aims to equip participants with adequate knowledge of commonly used drugs in palliative care for pain management and to manage other symptoms. The course will also cover Essential Narcotic Drugs and Narcotic Drugs, along with the technical legalities to procure, store, dispense and document the same.
The 7-hour course will be delivered in two parts; a virtual 4.5-hour Part A module and an in-person 2.5-hour Part B module at the Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre.
Eligibility Criteria:
- ·This course is primarily designed for candidates with a Diploma or a Degree in Pharmacy.
